Power ballads catch a lot of flack for being cheesy and formulaic. Maybe they are. Who cares? A great song is a great song. Here are five great songs:
Ozzy- Old L.A. Tonight
This is a beautiful song with a monster hook, from 1995’s ozzmosis. Should’ve been a single.
Video won’t embed, listen here.
Warrant- I saw Red
Forget about the title track from “Cherry Pie.” This is where it’s at. Jani Lane(RIP)was an amazing songwriter, and nowhere is that more evident than on this song.
Skid Row- In a Darkened Room
The opening riff alone opens up a vortex in the space-time continuum that sucks the listener back to 1992. Sebastian Bach is a beast on this entire album, but he goes off the chain, here.
W.A.S.P. – Hold On To My Heart
I love W.A.S.P. Blackie Lawless has such a distinctive voice.
Mötley Crüe- You’re All I Need
A lovely song about a guy murdering his girlfriend to keep her at home. 😂
